Katherine H. Solits, a lifelong resident of East Toledo and recent resident of Luther Hills, Toledo, Ohio, went to rest on Thursday, June 16th. One of 7 children, she was born on July 4, 1916 to Andrew and Elizbeth Mascsak. Katherine was a sweet daughter, loyal sister, faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She will be missed. She worked diligently and with love to build a family that is blessed because of her example and loving spirit. Her lifetime attitude was one of deep faith in God and her philosophy was 'œTaking one day at a time.' Katherine retired from the Electric Auto Lite. She was a member of Holy Rosary and St. Stephen Churches, the Altar Rosary Society, Slovak Jednota and the church choir. For many years she was a very active volunteer at parish functions. Making noodles and pies were her favorites and everyone enjoyed her camaraderie and great sense of humor. She had a way of 'œtelling it like it was' without hurting anyone'™s feelings. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John M. Soltis; daughter, Linda Marie; her parents; 6 brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Larry) Grundmann, Bernadine (Henry) Kennedy; son, John (Diana) Soltis; 5 grandchildren, Lisa M. Lawrence, Lori Ann Pallinger, Thomas Pallinger, Tammy Mandrell, John 'œChip' Soltis; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Mascsak; many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and special caregiver, Toni Pirolli. A celebration of Katherine'™s life will be held at St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church, 1880 Genesse Street, on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 am. The family will greet guests beginning at 10:00 am and the rosary will be recited at 10:30am. Private Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Katherine'™s memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
