Kathleen S. Morse-Brizzi, 58, formerly of Florida and Arizona passed away on January 9, 2008, in Willis, Texas. She was born July 6, 1949, in Oregon, Ohio to George and Lucille (Stoddard) Morse. She was a graduate of Clay High School and received her music education degree from Bowling Green State University in 1971. Kathy touched the lives and hearts of many students during her 35 years as a music teacher. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year at Madeira Beach Middle School in Pinellas County, Florida and also awarded the Charros Teacher of the Year at Kiva Elementary in Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition, she directed many adult choral groups in churches and community centers in Florida and Arizona. As a young girl, Kathy's entry "The City of Opportunity" was selected as the City of Oregon official motto. Later she would produce a recording of her own music she had written and performed entitled, "Let My Children Pray."
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Dennis, whom she married in 1996; step-children, Dennis (Diane) Brizzi, Ginger (Joe) Morlando; step-granddaughter, India Cudd. Also surviving are her sister, Jean (Harold) Padley; nieces; nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; mother-in-law, Fay Gardner and brother-in-law, Tim, of Apopka, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Morse and sister, Dorothy Morse Boyle.
A memorial service will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
