Kathy M. Arnold, 80, of Evanston, IL and formerly of Oregon, OH passed away May 21, 2007 in Evanston Hospital. She was born in Lucas County, Ohio on March 31, 1927 to Clarence and Catharine (Wooddell) Arnold. Kathy was a 1945 graduate of Clay High School and a 1949 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Health and Physical Education). She also studied at Northwestern University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her career path included: editorial assistant of the Christian Advocate; editor of Coverage for the Washington National Insurance Co.; editor of the Zenith Log and Zenith Radio Corporation ( where she received 22 local and national awards including two Freedom Foundation Medals from Valley Forge and two editor of the year awards from the Chicago Crusade of Mercy); Advertising and Public Relations Director for the Toy Tinkers; Director of Medical Photography and Audio Visuals for St. Francis Hospital; and in retirement, office assistant for the Central Camera Company.
Survivors include three nieces, Fillamay (Ron) Cowell, Suzanne (Kevin) Durheim and Judy (Tarry) Beard; nephew, Dan (Joan) Thompson; brother-in-law, Robert Thompson. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mabelle Thompson.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, May 25, 2007, from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Kathy's memory are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
