Obituary

Kenneth E. Brown, 86, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 23, 1921, to Harvey and Bertha (Apgar) Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of the first graduating class at Macomber High School. Ken served during World War II in the U.S. Army under General Patton. After the War he served in the "CCC" in Montana. He was employed as a journeyman electrician by IBEW Local 8 for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Local 8 Retirees Club, Faith United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and member of United Methodist Men. Mr. Brown was currently a member at Christ United Methodist Church where he was active in the men's group. Ken also was a founding trustee at Faith United Methodist Church and was volunteer at St. Louis Helping Hands. He served as scoutmaster for Troop #60 at Navarre School for many years, and volunteered at his grand-children's school as a woodworking teacher. Ken was an avid Indians and Ohio State fan. Surviving are his sons, James (Debra) and Gary (Nancy) Brown; daughter, Sally (David) Medere; grandchildren, Melanie (John) Woolwine, Daniel Brown, Stephanie (Aaron) Hoyt, Aaron and Nathan Medere; great-grandchildren, Dylan Brown, Aubrianna Hoyt and Jonathan Woolwine; brother, Donald J. (Rhodene) Brown, and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen and sister, Virginia Matuszak. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Monday, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Ave., Oregon, OH, on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with interment following in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Kenneth's memory can be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation: Visitation Times 2-9 pm Oregon Chapel
