Kenneth C. George, 75, beloved husband of Barbara for 55 years and father of Ken "Mitch" (Joyce) George, Jim George, Beverly (Joe) Miller and Cyndi (J. Lewis) Reynolds, passed from us on November 1, 2003. He had 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Kenny was a lifelong resident of Oregon, Ohio, son of Grace and Garrett George and is survived by his sister, Arlene Fangman. His sister, Audrey Konsorka, preceded him in death. His very close brothers-in-law, Gene Fangman and Norm Fix and sister-in-law, Beverly Fix, also survive Kenny.
He graduated from Clay High School in 1947, and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he was activated and served in combat with the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War. He retired from the BP-Sohio refinery where Kenny worked his entire adult life. Kenny was active in Scouting, both as a child and as an adult, serving in various roles including Troop 109 leader. He was active in the Oregon Volunteer Fire Dept Station 1 and the German-American Swiss Club. His love of horses and community service also lead him to service as the leader/advisor of the Mavericks 4H club and the Lucas County Sheriff's Posse. He has most recently been an active Life Member and officer of the Harbor View Yacht Club. Kenny was currently a member of the Dunberger Post of the American Legion, VFW 9816, the Marine Corps League and the Korean War Veterans Assoc. But most of all he was a loving husband and father who always wanted the best for his family and tried to share his vast knowledge with his children.
