Kenneth H. Mason, 91, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 9, 2018. Ken was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 6, 1927 to Kenneth and Bertha (Miley) Mason. During World War II, Ken served in the United States Navy during the invasion of Japan in 1945. As a teenager, Ken sold peanuts on the corner of Navarre Avenue and Wheeling Street where Mercy St. Charles Hospital stands. On May 1, 1948, he married the love of his life, Lila Schuster. Ken worked for Sealtest Dairy as a delivery driver, the Bostwick & Braun Company, and retired from Star Cartage in 1991. In later years, Ken lived in Arizona and enjoyed helping around the resort where he lived; making coffee, baking cookies, and helping sew pillow cases for soldiers overseas. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Pamela Wittman, Patricia Shafer, Peggy Sue (Glenn Jr.) Reamsnyder; grandchildren, Paul (Monica) Wittman Jr., Rachael (Michael) Goulette, Ryan (Stephanie) Shafer, Erin (Justin) Ringer, Jennifer (Dustin) Davis, and Lee (Chelsea) Reamsnyder; 22 great-grandchildren with twins on the way; and sister, Shirley (James) Brunskill. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lila; and son-in-law, Paul Wittman Sr.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
