Kenneth S. Vas, 64, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 5, 1949 to Steven and Lorraine (Collins) Vas. Ken was a veteran of the US Army where he serving in Okinawa as a Green Beret, medic and paratrooper. He worked for CSX as an engineer for 42 years before retiring in 2009. Ken was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, golfing and working on his pond. Surviving are his children, Colleen (Jason) Billheimer and Brian (Natalie) Vas; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Fred) Schultz and Linda (Tom) Ankenbrandt. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane and brother, John. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m. Military honors will follow.
