Kent C. Balsmeyer, 92, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Kent was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 6, 1923 to Edward and Minnie (Herssig) Balsmeyer. On April 3, 1948, he married Betty Turner and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until her passing in 2001. Kent was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Following military service, Kent was employed with Gulf Oil Refinery for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and walking. Kent is survived by his children, Cheryl Balsmeyer, David Balsmeyer, and Debra (Erwin) Cuykendall; grandchildren, Karen (Chuck) Lehman, Kelly (Keith) Gray; great grandchildren, Keith, Kyle and Kenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brother, Earl Balsmeyer. Private graveside services were held at Toledo Memorial Park.
