La Jean A. Franklin, 85, of Millbury, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, surrounded by her two loving daughters, Chyrl and Yvonne. La Jean was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 29, 1926 to Carl and Elsie (Dewiggins) Schultz. On February 14, 1945, she married Carl E. Franklin. For many years, La Jean was employed as a cashier with A & P Foods for 27 years, retiring in 1966. La Jean was a longtime member of Order of the Eastern Star Triune Chapter #344. She often would accompany her husband Carl who was a member of the Zenobia Shrine Chanters. La Jean also enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family. La Jean is survived by her children, Chyrl (Tom) Knapp, Yvonne (John) Broadway, and Carleen Franklin; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, along with 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Carl Franklin Jr., and brother, Carl Schultz Jr. Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Wednesday, May 30th from 4:00-8:00 pm and Thursday, May 31st from 2:00-8:00 pm. Eastern Star services will be at 7:00 pm, Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Friday in the funeral home with interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
