Obituary

Lacy E. Phlegar, 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Clorick, W. Virginia to Ernest and Lilly Mae (Cook) Phlegar. Lacy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1946, he moved to Toledo and in 1947 began his employment at L.O.F. as a glassworker until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed spending time and fishing at his Canadian cabin on Lake Wabatongushi, Ontario. Lacy was a member of Cooley Canal Yacht Club, the VFW Post 2510 and was a 50 year member of the Paragon Lodge (Port Lawrence), F&AM. Surviving are his daughter, Sharon (Mark) Shafer of Toledo, grandchildren, Lauren Shafer; Kristin (Bill), Lacy III and Terry Phlegar; several great grandchildren. Lacy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Snyder) in 1983; parents; son Lacy Jr.; brothers, Theodore, Randolph and Duane and sister, Virginia. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 3-8 p.m. with Cooley Canal Yacht Club services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation: Friday, 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park
