Larry Daniel Strickland, 81, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on November 3, 2026.
Larry was born on March 25, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Willie Mae Hall Strickland and Simon Daniel Strickland. He was baptized as a child at Reed Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, and his faith remained a steady presence throughout his life. He later became a member of Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Larry graduated from L.J. Price High School before going on to Morris Brown College, where he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He went on to graduate from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. His professional career took him to Lockheed Martin, Nabisco, and later to the City of Toledo, where he worked in Human Resources as a Labor Relations Specialist.
Outside of work, Larry enjoyed assembling model kits of cars, airplanes, and ships, and he loved traveling on cruises. He gave his time to young people as a coach of soccer and baseball teams, and he honored history as a member of the 5th United States Colored Troops (USCT) Reenactors.
Above all, Larry was devoted to his family. He and Eva shared 59 years of marriage. Together they raised three sons, Keith, Marc, and Todd, and he delighted in his grandsons, Turner and Dylan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Eva; his sons, Marc and Todd (Cindy); his grandsons, Turner and Dylan; his sister, Rachel (Freddie) Strickland Cook; his stepsister, Marcia Byrdsong; stepsister-in-law, Sherialyn Byrdsong. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith; sister, Marie Strickland; and step-brother, Ricky Byrdsong.
