Obituary

Lawrence D. Morgan, 83, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Mr. Morgan was born in Toledo on October 4, 1927 to Walter and Martha (Scheanwald) Morgan. Larry was a 1945 graduate of Waite High School. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Upon his return he attended the University of Toledo where he received his Bachelor'™s and Master'™s degrees. Larry began his career as a teacher and coach in the Rogers City High School in Rogers City, Michigan. In 1955 he was hired as an English teacher at Clay High School where he would also serve as both assistant football coach and track coach. He served as Administrative Assistant in charge of Personnel and Curriculum in 1962 and then as Assistant Superintendent for Oregon City Schools from 1967 until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement he would help supervise student teachers for the University of Toledo. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, The Oregonian Club, Paragon (Yondota) Masonic Lodge, Phi Beta Kappa, American Association of School Administrators, and served as trustee, president of the administrative council, staff parish relations committee and Sunday school teacher at Salem. Surviving are his wife, Brenda; sons, Mark (Teresa) and Matthew (Tanya) Morgan; daughters, Deborah (Darrell) Cordell and Cartha (Paul) Stevens; sister, Margaret (Raynor) Welker; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Yvonne; brother, Myron Morgan and granddaughter, Maresa. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with interment following in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Larry'™s memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Salem United Methodist Church. Visitation: Wednesday, 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services: Thursday, 1:00 p.m. Interment: Ottawa Hills Memorial Park
