Obituary

Lawrence Russell Vassar, 70, passed away February 17, 2007 unexpectedly in Florida. He was born on October 25, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Munson and Bessie (Shearer) Vassar. Larry was a 1954 graduate of Waite High School.  After graduation, he was employed as a yard clerk for the B & O Railroad. In 1964, Larry and his family moved to Fremont where he was one of the founders of Financial Computers. He worked as a computer programmer for Sandusky County and was an independent contractor for many years. Larry retired in Florida and resided in a retirement community in Hollyhill, where he enjoyed the warm weather and karaoke.   Surviving are his children, Mark (Deb), Sandusky, OH, Douglas (Chris), Beth Warnecke, Greg, and Amy (Todd) Drusback, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Michelle, April, Emily, Matthew, Molly, Maxwell, Paige and Ellie Elyse; great grandchild, Illeana. He is also survived by his sisters, Roberta Vassar, Charlotte Golightly, Martha (Clair) Simpson and Carolyn (Don) Bylow, all from Perrysburg and Toledo. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joel and Carl, sisters, Harriet Wierauch and Miriam Vassar, and grandchild, Megan Elyse.     Funeral services will be private in Toledo. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio. Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, is assisting with the arrangements.
