Lelah M. Schimmel, 97, of Oregon, OH passed away January 23, 2004 in Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky, OH. She was born July 4, 1906 in Bono, OH to Richard L. and Etta (Thayer) Kester. Lelah was a graduate of Waite High School and the widow of George Schimmel, who passed away in 1971. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the "Maccabbees". Surviving are her sons, Cullen "Charles" Schimmel and Gary (Carolyn) Schimmel; sister, Margaret Mauter; grandchildren, Mark Schimmel, Vicki Jeschke, Gary Jr., Wendy Schmiedl and Heidi Ward; 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Lelah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Rex Kester, and daughter, Beverly Schimmel. Private services will be held at the convience of the family and friends will be received at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Woodville and Elmore Streets at 12 noon on Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Home, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH.
