Leo J. LeMaitre, 79, of Oregon, OH passed away on November 23, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on August 2, 1932 in Onsted, Michigan to Charles and Lulu (Ewing) LeMaitre. Leo served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and was a past State Commander for the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He worked at Lakefront Docks as a Longshoreman for 36 years before retiring in 1993. Leo was a life member of VFW Post #2510 as well as a member of F.O.E. and the American Legion Post 576. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and treasure hunting with a metal detector.
Leo is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joyce; sons, Jim, Tom, and Bob (Sue) LeMaitre; daughters, Debby (Tim) Rose and Wendy Dickens; step-children, Laurie (Raymond) Nontell, Philip Kasior, Michael Kasior; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia; 3 siblings.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park with Marine Corps. military honors.
