Obituary

Linda Sue Newton (Brower) of Toledo, Ohio was called to the Lord on January 7, 2023 at the age of 66. Linda passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.

Linda was born to Donald Brower and Doris Lynch on December 16, 1956 at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. She was a 1976 graduate of Springfield High School and later started working at Tibbet Incorporated. There she met the love of her life, Michael Newton. They married in July of 1980 and started their family in 1984 with the birth of their first son, Jason and welcomed Todd into the world shortly after in 1985.

Linda was crafty and often gave handmade gifts to her family and friends. She had a strong passion for crochet and ceramics and will be especially remembered for her signature baby blankets that were made with love for her family. The adults in her life were not left out and they will treasure her memory every time they snuggle up with their afghan. Linda enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home on Stephen and the party was never a party until Elvis Presley was on the stereo. If there was a family gathering, she knew to bring a second (or even third) tray of her famous deviled eggs, because the first one would be devoured before the party even started. She was also known to make the best sweet potatoes and tuna noodle salad. The children in the family will remember Linda for her baggy of butter mints that always came with the price of a kiss.

Linda was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. She loved fiercely and passionately and was proud of the family she and Mike had created. She loved being a Mimi to her granddaughters and spoiling them any time she could.

Linda is survived by her husband, Mike; her sons, Jason (Sara) Newton and Todd Newton (Crystal); Granddaughters, Aubrey, Riley and Madi; her mother, Doris Lynch; her siblings, Beverly (Paul) Dernier, Kathy Hendry, Candy Brower, and Douglas (Cathy) Lynch; step-siblings, Sandy, Dawn, and Don. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Donald Brower; her step-father, Lawrence Lynch; her little brother, Larry Lynch and her brother-in-law, Paul Peace.

The family would like to express special thanks to Crystal Wagener for the months of care she provided Linda and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the comfort they provided in her last days.
