Obituary

Lloyd A. Wright, Sr., 73, of Oregon, OH passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2003 in his home. He was born in Hungtington, W. Virginia on March 15, 1930 to Julia and John L. Wright. Lloyd's railroad family moved to Columbus, Ohio when he was seven. He graduated from South High School, Columbus, OH and attended Ohio State University. Lloyd married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Rankey, on February 23, 1952 and was drafted into the army, where he served in the Ordnance Dept. of East Coast Warning Systems. He transferred to Oregon in 1966 to work for the C&O Railroad Docks. Lloyd retired in 1992, after 43 years as superintendent of the Docks. He was very active in the Christian community. Lloyd was involved with Youth for Christ and served on the Board of Youth for Christ for many years. He also worked on various building programs and was the sound technician at Open Bible Church and Heritage Christian Church. Recently he had attended First Alliance C&M Church with his family. Lloyd spent his family vacations for the past 32 years at Word of Life, Schroon Lake, New York. He loved going to the Friends of Israel Conference yearly in Lancaster, PA. Lloyd is survived by his loving family; wife of 51 years, Millie Wright; daughter, Sue (Brad) Watterworth of Lake Orion, MI, Sally (Mike) Agoston, Oregon, OH; son, Lloyd (Denise) Wright, Jr., Oregon, OH; grandchildren, Brett, Brooke, Brandon, Brittany, Bethany, Bradley and Breanne Watterworth of Lake Orion, MI, Megan Agoston, Jenelle and Caleb Wright of Oregon, OH; brother, John M. Wright, Columbus, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Weldon Davis on Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, OH where visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Contributions in Lloyd's memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Word of Life, Schroon Lake, New York.
