Lois A. Ackerman, 70, of Gibsonburg, OH, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Ackerman was born in Pemberville, OH on February 12, 1938 to Harry and Mabel (Taulker) Hoodlebrink. She was a graduate of Pemberville High School and attended airline school in Minnesota. Prior to the birth of her children she was employed at the Owen Illinois Company and for many years she was the bookkeeper for the family farm. She was a member of First St. John's Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and also sang in the choir. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed traveling with her husband. Surviving is her loving husband, James; sons, Dean (Kristie), Donald (Debra) and Dave (Amy) Ackerman; sisters, Norma (Art) Hagedorn, Thelma (Dave) Guest; grandchildren, Katie (Ben) Nduati, Ryan, Jason, Emily and Lindsay. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Hoodlebrink and grandchild, Ellen Ackerman. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Street, where visitation will be one hour before services. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Lois's memory can be made to First St. John Lutheran Church.
