Lou Ann Hendrix, aged 86, passed away on October 13, 2024, at Edward and Marion Knight Hospice Center in Perrysburg, OH. Lou Ann was born on November 10, 1937, to Harold and Narcissus (Buck) Gibbons. An only child, she brought great joy to her parents. Lou Ann was a proud resident of Toledo and graduated from Morrison R. Waite High School in 1955. During high school, she was a majorette and performed dance routines in the Featherwaite Follies. After graduation, she married Charles "Chuck" Hendrix on November 3, 1956. They had three sons: David Charles, Mark Allen, and Daniel Lee. Lou Ann was greatly influenced by her mother Nar's eldest brother, Cliff "Unc," and her lifelong friend, Shelby Murphy.

She spoke fondly of the seven years she spent working for Dr. Sacks, a local ophthalmologist. Lou Ann dedicated many years of her life as a secretary at the American Flint Glass Workers' Union before retiring. She was known for her unwavering dedication, strong work ethic, and cherished the close bonds she formed with her colleagues, who soon became her friends.

Lou Ann exemplified a generous spirit, devoting much of her time to volunteering. She actively participated in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary Organization. She visited nursing homes during the holidays, sang Christmas carols, and provided gifts; often involving many family members and friends to bring good cheer. She marched in parades and supported local political causes.

Her home was open to all, where she welcomed us with warmth and insisted we were well-fed. She possessed a pure heart, never passing judgment, and her laughter was infectious. She happily helped raise many grandchildren. A gifted poet, she often had beautiful words of wisdom to share. A few days before her passing, she said that her favorite things in life were all people. She touched countless lives and will forever be in our hearts.

Lou Ann leaves to celebrate her life sons, Mark and David; her grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Kristi, Matthew, Emily, Joshua, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Seth, Ally, Caiden, Felix, Hunter, Hayden, Braxton, Berkley, Ava, Aaron, Auryn, and Atreyu; one great-great-grandson Adrian Rybak; her beloved cousin once removed Ron Gristock; daughters at heart Carol Balla, Karen Synder, Melissa Downs, Regina Hendrix, and Terry Webster; and many others she loved. She was preceded in death by her adoring parents; ex-husband, Charles; youngest son, Daniel; and granddaughter at heart, Sarah Cuthbertson. She will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
