Louis John Dudas Sr., 73, of east Toledo passed away September 7, 2006 at Otterbein Portage Valley. He was born in Toledo, OH on December 15, 1932 to John and Emerencia (Barta) Dudas. Louis was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the 612 National Guard Engineer Battalion. He had been employed by the City of Toledo as a foreman for the Streets Bridges and Harbor Division for 31 years, retiring in 1991 Louie was a member and past commander of the VFW Post 4906, a senior district commander of the VFW, a member of the American Legion Arthur Daly Post, the Knights of Columbus and member of the 20th Ward Democratic Party. He was a veteran's service commissioner and was inducted into the Birmingham Hall of Fame as a distinguished citizen. In his spare time, Louie enjoyed Hungarian cooking where he catered to anybody and everybody and playing golf at Collins Park and bowling and fishing. He loved life and spending time with his grandchildren, especially J.J. jughead.
Surviving are his sons, Timothy, Louis Jr. and Daniel; daughters, Tamra (John Jr.) Seaquist, Carol Peatee and Christine (Tyrone Jr.) Hutchinson; sisters, Elizabeth Beach and Ethel Stango; brother, Robert Dudas; 14 grandchildren and many other relatives. Louie was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol Jean.
Friends and family may visit at the Kinsey Funeral Home, 2001 Consaul St., Toledo, OH on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 Noon 8 p.m. with VFW Services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 9:45 a.m. and proceed to St. Stephen Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Louie's memory can be made to the Veteran's Service Commission.
