Luther A. Piel, 97, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 15, 2022 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Luther was born March 4, 1924 in Courtland, Indiana to Rev. Frank and Louisa (Krueger) Piel. Luther retired with the rank of Colonel from the United States Air Force where he served for 36 years. He was a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Luther is survived by his daughter, Becky Piel; granddaughter, Jessica Piel. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Phyllis in 2002; second wife, Violet in 2014; son, David; and siblings, Gerhardt, Hilbert, Hildegardt, Thelma, Theodore, Ruth, and Walter. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
