Madeline R. Baumgartner, 90, of Toledo, Ohio passed away January 20, 2009 at Orchard Villa surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 14, 1918 to Herman and Harriet (Curtis) Pitzen. Madeline was a life-long east sider and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Unity United Methodist Church and the women's choir. Madeline was also active with the Moose Lodge in Port Clinton, the Friendly Center in Toledo and the Toledo Feed Your Neighbor Program. Surviving are her sons, Donald (Rose), James (Sharon) and David (Sue) Baumgartner; daughter, Carol Rowland; sisters; Julia (Bill) Pennington and Harriet Douglas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert J.; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; grandchildren, Donald Jr. and Timothy Baumgartner. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday January 23, 2009 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Unity United Methodist Church, 1910 East Broadway, Northwood, OH on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Madeline's memory can be made to Unity United Methodist Church.
