Madelyn K. 'œMaddie' Schwamberger, 89, of Oregon and formerly of Millbury, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Orchard Villa. Maddie was born on June 30, 1921 in Tiffin, OH to Thomas and Alice (Eck) Frankhart. In the early 1940'™s, she moved to Toledo and worked for Kroger as head cashier and office manager. She married the love of her life, Robert 'œBob' Schwamberger, after WWII ended. They lived together in the close-knit community of Millbury, OH for almost 50-years, being devoted members of the Millbury Volunteer Fire Dept., Maddie as a Fire Maid and Bob as an Assistant Chief. Maddie and Bob were longtime members of St. Peter UCC, Millbury. Never blessed with children themselves, Maddie and Bob shared their love and wisdom with their nieces and nephews as everyone'™s favorite Aunt & Uncle. She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice Reinhart, Mary Josephine (Harland) Brickner, and Norma Frankhart; step-sisters, Irene (Peter) Bellex, Ann Josephine (Patrick) Hartenstein, and Darlene (Michael) Whyte; and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Helen Domini and Muncie Rogers. Maddie had a special bond with her cousin, Joyce Yard, who faithfully and lovingly cared for her needs for many years, and was holding Maddie'™s hand as she passed away. Maddie was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Bob; sisters, Matilda O'™Connor, Patricia Walliser, Alice Wood, and Evelyn Taylor. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday in the funeral home with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lake Township Fire Department or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
