Marcella M. Murphey, 85, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2005, in the Lutheran Home at Toledo. Marcella was born on January 3, 1920, to the late John and Johanna (Knudsen) Hansen in Curtice, OH. She was the widow of Henry. Mrs. Murphey was employed for 24 years with the Oregon Board of Education, teaching 4th grade at Jerusalem Elementary School, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Lucas County Retired Teachers and Ohio State Retired Teachers Associations. Marcella also was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served on church council, the memorial committee and WELCA- Women's Group while at Divinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her sons, Allen (Susan) of Cincinnati, OH and Robert (Beverly) of Columbus, OH; sisters, Naomi Foss and Ruth Ann Niederhauser; brother, John (Linda) Hansen; granddaughters, Gannon and Paige Murphey and special niece, Emily Kruse.
Friends and family may visit from 5 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005, in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1930 Bradner Rd. Interment will follow in Elliston Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Home at Toledo. The family wishes to thank her congregations at Divinity and Calvary for their care and support.
