Margaret Koester, 91, lifelong resident of Oregon, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014. She was born on May 29, 1922 to Daniel and Marie (Keller) Becker. Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years, Glenn; daughters, Janice (Bruce) Sibbersen and Jean (David) Wietelmann, both of Woodville, OH; son, John (Marilyn, deceased) Jenkins, Oregon, OH; brother, Ted Becker of Calgary, Alberta; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Margarets favorite roles were wife, mother and grandmother. She loved playing with her grandchildren, baking pies, picking fruit, flower gardening and caring for others. She was a life-long member of First St. John Lutheran Church. Her deep faith led her to years of service as a Sunday School teacher, youth group advisor, quilter, fundraiser for Haydom Hospital in Tanzania, and womens group member and leader. She also worked for many years for the Lion Store. Her sweet and gentle nature brightened the lives of many.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Street on Friday at 11 a.m. where the family will greet friends after 10 am. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Glenn and his family extend a special word of thanks to the many hospice workers who gave her their loving care, especially Kylee, Rosa, Alea, and Natalie. Memorial contributions in Margaret'™s name may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
