Obituary

Margaret Rose (Muncie) Meszaros Rogers, of Oregon, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio at the age of 88. She will be cremated. There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at a later date. Muncie was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 6, 1930 to Mary Zakhar Meszaros and Joseph Meszaros. Muncie outlived her parents as well as four sisters; Mary (Wargo), Helen (Domini), Goldie (Demeter), and Barbara (Dyer) and one brother, Joey. Margaret attended Birmingham Elementary School and graduated from Morrison R. Waite High School in 1948, where she excelled as a four-year Spanish student and a member of the National Honor Society. Muncie married John Rogers, who later rose in the Toledo Fire Department to the rank of Lieutenant, in 1950. They were married nearly 50 years before John's death in 1999. She had five nephews; John Wargo, Dr. Leslie Domini, Dennis Domini, Scott Dyer and Michael Dyer and one niece, Kathy Wargo Grunden. As a lifetime member of Calvin United Church of Christ (formerly Hungarian Evangelical and Reformed Church), Muncie sang in the choir and was active in church life. She lived her early years in the Hungarian community of Birmingham and spoke Hungarian fluently. She also loved to cook and travel, especially to a favorite vacation spot in Canada with her husband, John. Muncie worked as an executive secretary at Owens-Illinois in Toledo from 1949-1986. Her sisters Goldie and Barbara also joined her at O-I. Golf and reading were favorite hobbies. Later activities after moving to Oregon, Ohio from South Toledo included hospital volunteering, membership in the condo association, the Red Hat Society and the Oregon Senior Center. She continued to meet with other graduates of her high school class up until her death. Muncie was a joy to all and beloved by her family and friends. She always had a smile and was eager to provide assistance whenever needed. Friends knew that if they needed help, Muncie was always available and would put aside her own needs for theirs. She loved life and she loved her family and her friends – and they loved her. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
