Margaret Marie Schimming, 94, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 4, 2017. Margaret was born March 28, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to Frederick and Ida (Laas) Vick. Margaret graduated from Libbey High School in 1941 and then worked for Genoa Pharmacy as a clerk before retiring in 1989. She married the love of her life, Arnold Schimming on February 22, 1947, who preceded her in death in 1994 after 47 years of marriage. Margaret was a member of St. Johns UCC in Genoa. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, going to the casino, working word puzzles, playing her digital poker and baking. What was most important to Margaret was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman with a kind heart and will be deeply missed.
Margaret is survived by her children, Sue (Tom) Overmier, Larry (Patty Manley) Schimming; grandchildren, Tanya (Louis) Melvin, Thomas (Jennifer) Overmier, Kyle (Kala), Eric and Jacob Schimming; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Butch; step-children, Delbert Schimming and Sandra Tong; sisters, Wilma Smith, Virginia Annarino and Evelyn Lieske.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 2-8 pm. The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at St. Johns UCC, 1213 Washington, Genoa, Ohio 43430 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Williston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Margaret's name may be directed to St. Johns UCC, American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff from Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially nurse, Amy, aide, Lori Chaplain Rose, and social worker, Patrick.
