Marian V. "Peggy" Phipps, 90 passed away on January 28, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on October 9, 1925 to Ray and Doris (Keyes) Cadaret. Peggy graduated from Waite High School and the University of Toledo where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. On December 23, 1949 she married John Phipps., who preceded her in death after 45 years of marriage. Peggy taught at Garfield Elementary school for 27 years. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Football. Peggy loved going to Florida and family gatherings, especially at Christmas. The most important thing to Peggy was spending time with her family and being a grandmother that everyone depended on.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Cyndie (Rich) Rothbard, Linda (Larry) Metzker, Becky (Dave) Martin, Laurie (Dan Hartford) Herrera; grandchildren, Rachel (Chuck) Handley, Erin (Jerry) Hayes, Adam Rothbard, Briana Rothbard, Courtney (Shane) Boldt, Ryan (Jennifer) Metzker, Alison (Chris) Kolasinski, Zachary (Elice Tucker) Martin, Joe (Angel) Herrera, Leah (Brian Doig) Herrera.; great-grandchildren, Seth, MacKenzie, Sophia, Jacob, Lexie, Joshua, Phillip, RaiLyn, Caden, Brendan, Adam, Kayla, Carly, Johnathon, Olivia, Logan, Quinn, and Addison (on the way); sister, Karen (Tom) Jennings; nieces and nephews; dear friend, Margaret Hosman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and John Wheeler.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Peggy's name are asked to consider C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor or the Cherry Street Mission. Peggy's family would like to thank the staff at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
