Marilyn L. Begg, 99, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September, 25, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born April 26, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Ferdinand and Louise (Wilhelm) Gladieux. January 25, 1947, she married William H. Begg. While raising her four sons, Marilyn was active in many capacities with the Parent Teacher Association, serving in leadership positions and was awarded life membership for her work on the council and scholarship committee. Mrs. Begg was employed with Crane Plumbing Supply, Toledo, Hughes Hatcher Menswear, Northwood, and National Family Opinion, retiring in 1988. A loyal member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Marilyn was active in the women of the church and sent countless cards and inspirational messages to congregation members. She enjoyed monthly lunches with her birthday club and her bible study which met at the Oregon Library for many years. Marilyn volunteered with March of Dimes, sewed comfort pillows for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Throughout her life, Marilyn was an avid reader and dedicated fan of the Detroit Tigers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and was especially proud of the accomplishments of her four sons.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, William (Katie) Begg, James (Margita) Begg, Thomas Begg (Robin), and John Begg; grandchildren, Jill (Nathan) Grooms, Jennifer Begg, Lyndsey Murphy, Eric Begg, Alex Begg, Tony Warmington, and Maria Warmington; great-grandchildren, Kelton, Rowan, Eloise, Will, Maeve, June, Leo, and Apollo; and sister, Ruth Tippey. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Begg; and brother, Robert Gladieux.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 11:00 am until funeral service at 12:00 pm. Interment: Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
