Marilyn R. Cashen, 85, formerly of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 13, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. Marilyn was born January 1, 1937 in Millbury, Ohio to Marion and May (Barnes) Stout. In 1955, Marilyn graduated from Clay High School and completed her Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University. Marilyn was a teacher in the Oregon City Schools; teaching at Coy Elementary, Starr, Elementary, and retired from Fassett Middle School in 2002 after 25 years. She volunteered at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where she was active with the WELCA and taught Sunday School. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Kevin (Julie) Cashen, Kay (Bill) Hungate, and Kendra Kec; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Howe, Jared Cashen, Jacob Cashen, Kaleb Cashen Abby (Curt) Harry, Nick Stewart, Joel (Jessica) Hungate, Nate (Raylene) Hungate, Sarah Kec, and Tommy Kec; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Carter, Lilah, Mason, Max, Charlotte, and Amelia; sister, Karen (Clair) Zimmerman; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Kim Cashen.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:30 am in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road, Toledo, where the family will receive friends at 10:30 am. Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church.
