Obituary

Marilyn M. Pennington, 75, of Curtice, passed away May 1, 2009. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on August 31, 1933, to Marian A. and Theda B. (Bailey) Smith. Marilyn was a member of the Cass Road Baptist Church, formerly Riverside Baptist Church. While her children attended Northwood Schools, Marilyn was very active in the Mother's Club and the Band Boosters. For 39 years Marilyn assisted her husband, Donald, with his State Farm Insurance office. They both were able to attend many conventions one of which was in Germany. They took a side trip to St. Avoid, France where she was able to see where her father, who died in WWII when she was 11 years old, was buried. That was a trip of a lifetime. Marilyn and Don loved round dancing and square dancing belonging to the Rhythm Ramblers Square Dance Club and Carousel Round Dance Club. She bowled for 26 years every Wednesday at Eastern Lanes Bowling Alley. Her passion was her grandchildren. Her first grandchild was born on her birthday. She was always available to take care of them and truly loved doing so. She leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, Donald E. Pennington, brother, James (Quillie) Smith and sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; her children, Pamela Schlicher (Marc Quiroz), Karen (Chris) Smeltzer, Cheryl Dunbar, and Robert (Barb) Pennington; her grandchildren, Luie (Randi), Danny, Kyla, Michelle, Hilary, Nathan, Tricia, and Briana, her great- grandchildren, Vincente', Leah, Antonio, Anthony, and Jayvion.
