Marion E. Roth, 94, of Oregon, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Lutheran Home at Toledo.
She was born in Newry, PA on March 23, 1917 to Harry and Mimie (Albright) Spidle. Her family moved to the Tiffin, Ohio area where she attended Republic High School and where she served as class president and graduated with honors. On July 19, 1936, she married Lester Roth of Attica, Ohio. Marion was employed with Oregon City Schools as Coy School librarian for 25 years. After retirement, Marion and Lester traveled with their Avion travel group throughout the United States and Canada. Marion enjoyed traveling with her husband and baking sugar cookies for her family and friends. Marion served as secretary of the Oregon chapter of AARP. She was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Esther Circle. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, theater, music, and playing bridge. Her true passion was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Ronald; grandchildren, Timothy (Patti) of Waterville,, Allison (Henry) Kunze of Westerville, Todd (Linda) of Perrysburg,, Thomas (Kori) of Woodville, Jeffrey (Susan) Enderle of Hilliard, Troy (Renee) of Hillsdale, Jodi (Tim) Wise of Oregon, Christopher and Kevin Roth; 18 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren. Marion is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dennis, daughter Glenda, daughter-in-law, June, sisters, Ethel and Alma, and brother, Harry Spidle Jr. (Ted).
A celebration of life service will be held at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road on Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 am where friends may call after 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church or Lutheran Home at Toledo.
