Obituary

Marjorie I. Bertok, 92, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie was born on February 19, 1922, in Green Port, New York to Jay Wesley and Ruth (Silcock) McKay. She was a 1941 graduate of Hudson High School, Hudson, New York. In January, 1944, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps, working at the Post Exchange in Camp Lejune, North Carolina. While serving at Camp Lejune, Marjorie met the love of her life, Steve R. Bertok, of Clay Center, Ohio, and married in October, 1944. Throughout their marriage, Marjorie and Steve resided in Clay Center and Millbury, Ohio. While raising her family, Marjorie was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She assisted her family in the operation of B&L Gas Station, A&B Campers, and Cyreno'™s Pizza Shop. Marjorie enjoyed golf, softball, math problems, and word searches. Marjorie is survived by her children, Phyllis Ann (Hymore) (Gezo), David (Linda) Bertok, Maureen Lansford, Julia (Roger) Kuhl, Steve (Cheryl) Bertok, Christopher Bertok, Kevin Bertok, Eric (Gwen) Bertok, Mathew (Christine) Bertok, and Tim Bertok; 32 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Adriance; son-in-law, Don Henninger. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughters, Nancy and Annette; sons-in-law, John Gezo, and Ken Lansford; daughter-in-law, Karen Bertok; granddaughter, Abbie Bertok, a brother and 4 sisters. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 2:00 pm '" 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Private Interment will be held at Clay Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Genoa American Legion Post #324. Marjorie'™s family wishes to thank the staff of Genoa Retirement Village and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care given to Marjorie.
