Marlene "June" Shook, 74, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in her home. Marlene was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 2, 1934, to Lyle and Ruth (Burger) Morton. Mrs. Shook was employed as a day care provider for the Lucas County Children's Board for 5 years. She also was an elevator operator at the Commodore Perry Hotel. In 1953 June served as a standin actor for Piper Lori during the filming of the movie Johnny Dark in Toledo. June attended the Bethel Assembly of God and enjoyed reading and drawing but her biggest legacy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Cherilea (Jeff Pfitzer) Morton, Audrey "Suzy" (Tony) Sheets, Rhonda Kay (Kenny) DeSelms; sons, Jerome "Jerry " (Dawn) Shook, Joe "Joey" Wesley (Yvonne) Bennett; sisters, Patricia Ruth Hussey, Lyla Lee Hamilton, Claudette (Virgil) Lovingood; brothers, Lyle "Sonny" Morton, Claude "Butch" (Cindy) Craven; 16 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and great- granddaughter, Gabriella.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in Bethel Assembly of God, 665 W. Indiana Ave., on Friday, June 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Expressions of sympathy in Marlene's memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
