Marsha Marie(Martin). Clere, 63, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on June 13, 2013 at Promedica Bay Park Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after battling Cushings syndrome since 1998. Marsha was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 23, 1950 to Earl and Geraldine (Duris) Martin. She graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School and earned a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University and a Masters degree from the University of Toledo. Marsha taught 2nd grade at Starr Elementary School, Oregon, Ohio. Marsha initiated the Starr Recycling program with keep Toledo Lucas County Beautiful. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi. Marsha also was a member of Pi Lambda Theta and was the OCFT building representative, where she was awarded the OCFT President'™s Award. Marsha was one of five Oregon teachers with the distinction of National Board Certification. After 40 years of service, Marsha retired from teaching in 2011. In addition to her devotion to teaching, Marsha and her family were founding members of the Toledo Lighthouse Society where she was co-chair of the silent auction at the annual festival. She enjoyed spending time at the Maumee Bay Nature Center where she helped raise monarch butterflies. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Lake Erie Waterkeeper'™s Association. Marsha enjoyed needlepoint and traveling with her family to Myrtle Beach, Hawaii, and Fort Myers Beach. Marsha is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steven; son, Michael; granddaughter, Alexis; mother, Geraldine Martin-Conley; and sister, Sandra (Frank) Bihn. Marsha is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members, 40 classes of students from Starr Elementary School and numerous devoted, loyal friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Martin. Friends may visit at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1105 N. Elliston Rd., Martin, Ohio on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. and attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
