Martin R. Ziss, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his home in Toledo, Ohio. Marty was born August 28, 1949 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Harold and Anne – Marie (McKinley) Ziss. Marty was a 1967 graduate of Clay High School where he excelled in football, track and academics winning numerous awards. He furthered his education, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Physics from the University of Toledo and a Master's Degree in Quantum Physics from Bowling Green State University. Marty enjoyed water skiing, working complex math problems and was fascinated with astronomy. He was a lifelong learner who admired the works of Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla. Marty treasured the time with his family at holiday gatherings; especially Christmas and will be remembered by his family for his love of animals, a really good heart who loved people, and willingness to help the less fortunate. Marty is survived by his siblings, Barbara Ziss, Jeannine (Pepe) Santoro, and Bill (Lori) Ziss; nieces and nephews, Jayson (Nichole), Jodie (David), Sydney, and Jordan; great-nieces & nephews, Jack, Anna, Claire, Emily, Penelope, and Maisy. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 12:00 pm until the memorial service at 2:00 pm. Private interment: Union Hill Cemetery.
