Marvin F. Gladieux, 76, of Oregon passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 in his home. Mr. Gladieux was born in Oregon on August 11, 1932 to Marvin L. and Ellen (Schoenrock) Gladieux. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Marvin was employed for 38 years at the Toledo Edison retiring as Fire and Safety Specialist in 1990. Mr. Gladieux was a member of First St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 55 Plus Club, Lucas County Fire Chief's Association, James Hancock Senior Center,FMCA Ohio Nomads Chapter, HRRVC and was currently president of the Toledo 39ers Holiday Ramblers Club. Marvin also served 38 years as volunteer fireman at Oregon #2 Fire Station, retiring as Assistant District Chief in 1996. Marv and Elaine also enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine; son, Marvin L. (Karen) Gladieux; daughter, Kathleen Gladieux; sister-in-law, Virginia Gladieux and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott C.; sister, Marlene Cook and brother, William.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where visitation will be from 2 to 9 pm on Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00am in First St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1121 Grasser Street, Oregon, OH with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials in Marvin's memory may be made to either First St. Mark's or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
