Obituary

Mary Bellner Smith, 68, loving wife, mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord Jesus, on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after battling a genetic liver disorder.. Mary was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 21, 1945 to Stephen and Vivian (Cox) Bellner who preceded her in death. A 1963 graduated from Central Catholic High School, Mary previously worked for Toledo Edison 10 years in administration prior to going back to school at the University of Toledo where she graduated with honors in Education in 1987. After receiving her degree Mary taught 2 years for catholic schools then went on to Toledo Public Schools and taught for 8 years until her retirement. While being retired she subbed at Lake Elementary School. Mary was a person who loved to socialize whether just talking, play games or visiting at the community center at Citrus Park, where she and her husband spent their winters in Florida. Although Mary loved shopping, her real and true love was spending time with her husband, children and especially their grandchildren. Surviving are her loving husband of 44 years, James Smith; loving children, Colette (Eric) Dimalanta, Derek (Anne) Smith and Kurtis (Erin) Smith; adoring grandchildren, Julia, Nathan, Evan Dimalanta, Alex, Zia, Jozie Smith; brothers, Phillip (Joyce) and Bernard (Barbara) Bellner. She will truly be missed and we love you! Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 Noon on Wednesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 550 Clark Street, Toledo and where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Those wishing to mak an expression of sympathy in Mary'™s memory are asked to consider St. Ignatius Church Building Campaign.
