Mary Bango, 77, of Oregon, passed away Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at Heartland of Oregon. She was born in Tarpa, Hungary to Karoly and Esther Simon. As a young lady, she left Tarpa and moved to Budapest, Hungary where she would meet her husband Louis Bango, whom she married in 1954. Louis and Mary left Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and settled in the Birmingham neighborhood of East Toledo. Mary was a longtime member of St Stephen'™s Catholic Church where she worked in the school cafeteria and helped with many festivals and activities. She enjoyed swimming, cooking, and was an avid baker. Mary and Louis enjoyed traveling, especially to Hungary, and throughout the United States. In recent years, she enjoyed bus trips to Detroit and Windsor casinos with her girlfriends. Her memberships included the Hungarian Club of Toledo and German Retirees Club at Oakshade Grove. Her true passion was spending time with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Louis; son Charlie (Moira Dugan); grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Bango; brothers, Karoly (Julia) Simon, of Tarpa, Hungary and Louis (Rosie) Simon, of Oregon; niece, Erika; great nieces, Stephanie and Kristina. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Sandor Simon. Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Sunday, May 16th from 2:00-6:00 pm where the rosary will be recited at 4:00pm. Funeral services will be begin at 10:30 am Monday with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Stephens Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
