Mary Rose Bence, 91, of Toledo, OH passed away Monday, March 27, 2006 in Orchard Villa. She was born in Toledo, OH on January 21, 1915 to Andrew and Mary (Feher) Bencze. Mary served as a W.A.C. during World War II, and had been employed by Libbey Glass, Division of O.I., for 36 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Stephen Church and its Rosary Altar and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. Mary was a charter member of the American Legion Lois Wetmore Post #617, life member of Toledo Lucas County Memorial Day Association and Amvet Post 52. Her other memberships included the Logsdon-Walla Catholic War Veterans Post 639, the National WAC Vets, the Lucas County American Legion Burial Corp since 1948 , the Libbey Glass Onizer Club, and after retirement, the Libbey Glass retirees Golden Emblem Club.
Surviving are her brother, Paul Bencze; sister, Matilda (Joseph) Sofalvi, many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and Andrew Bencze and sister, Elizabeth Vargo.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. at the Kinsey Funeral Home Birmingham Chapel, 2001 Consaul St., Toledo, Ohio with recitation of the rosary at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Stephen Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mary's memory are asked to consider St. Stephens Catholic Church.
