Mary C. Casares, 76, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away in her residence, Thursday, August 12, 2004. Mary was born December 15, 1927, in Houston, Texas, to Jose and Matilde (Barrientos) Castilleja. On April 3, 1946, she married Edward Casares, who preceded her in death September 18, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her sons, James and Leo; grandson, Marcos Casares. Mary was the first lady hired by Atlas of Gibsonburg, Ohio. She also worked at Ottawa Basket Company, Elmore, and at the Luther Home of Mercy, Williston. Surviving are her children, Joseph, Gerald and Linda Casares; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Jesse Castilleja; sisters, Cruz Garcia, Annie Montano, Rosie Ramirez. Also surviving are her loving ex-daughters-in-law, Olga Ramirez, Ema Casares and Cathy Mitchell, who were like her own daughters. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, Ohio, on Sunday from 5-9 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Clay Township Cemetery.
