Mary Ellen Cowell, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio and formerly of Oregon, Ohio passed away August 5, 2010 at Perrysburg Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 29, 1923 to Oliver and Alzilida (Eakley) Smith. On March 22, 1943, she married Ellwood G. Cowell, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2010. Mary Ellen was an avid bingo player and enjoyed going on casino trips. She also loved to go perch fishing. Surviving are her children, Gerald (Diane Gajewski) Cowell, Alan (Mary) Cowell, Denny Cowell, and Roger (Kelly) Cowell, and brother, Merle Smith. Mary Ellen is also survived by many grandchildren, great '"grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Ronnie Shafer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellwood; daughter, Judy Shafer, and grandson, Jeffrey Shafer. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery, 1961 Pickle Road, Oregon.
