Our family matriarch known as Catherine to most, Cathy to a few, and Madam Zelda to her friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her home in the Perrysburg Commons Retirement Center.
Catherine was the oldest of eight surviving children of Julius J. and Mary (Shomody) Hager, born November 24, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Mercy St. Charles Hospital Auxiliary, St. Thomas Aquinas Altar & Rosary Society and Funeral Lunch Committee.
The Hagers love to dance and Catherine, along with her sister, Margaret, went dancing to one of their favorite halls when she met the love of her life and soul mate, Michael Francis Dombi. While on a five-day leave from the Army, Catherine and Michael were joined in marriage at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on August 3, 1943. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Michael John and Marsha Kay.
