Obituary

Mary Jane Halsey, 84, of Oregon, Ohio passed away April 22, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 1, 1930 to Harry and Winifred (Culver) Whitman. Mary Jane had been a secretary at the Lucas County Courthouse before she was married leaving her career to become a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Mary Jane enjoyed traveling, reading and attending her family'™s athletic events. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, walking along the beach and celebrating the holidays. Most of all she will be remembered for the way she lived her life with strength, courage, love and laughter. Surviving are her husband, Isaiah Halsey; daughters, Sarah Smith and Jenny (Robert) Berry; son, Daniel (Cheryl) Halsey; grandchildren, Ara and Brooke Halsey, Chad Aldridge, Betsy Hibbard, Mollie and Samuel Berry; 3 great grandchildren. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Betty Whitman, Sally Eichbauer, Richard Whitman, and Donald Whitman. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Mary Jane'™s memory can be made to St. Mark'™s Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to thank Hospice for all the loving care given to Mary Jane.
