Heaven gained a new angel on January 28, 2014 when Mary Jean Toth passed away at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she met, Mary lived her life as a constant pillar of support to all. With her inviting and warm personality and constant encouragement and support, Mary was everyone'™s greatest ally. Mary always put her family first, and was happiest when she could help others. She raised two sons and was very involved in the lives of her two grandchildren. Whether Mary was helping her grandchildren get ready for school in the morning or sharing one of her many afternoons talking to her son in Milwaukee on the phone, she was always delighted to be involved with her family and they were blessed to have her.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John; her two sons, John Michael (Christine) and Robert (Deborah) and her grandchildren, Cindy (Gary) Allen and Steven. She is also survived by her sister, Sinia, of Leesburg, FL and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lera Chaplin; brother, Robert and sister, Virginia.
A devout Christian, Mary attended Memorial United Church of Christ her entire life. She attended services regularly and made many friends in the congregation. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone in her life, and gifts can be given in her name to Memorial UCC. This biblical verse, from Proverbs, Chapter 31, verses 10 and 25-29, describes her best:
'˜Who can find a virtuous woman? She is far more precious than jewels. Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her sons rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her: Many women are capable, but you surpass them all!'™
Mary'™s life will be celebrated with visitation at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Please join her family as they say one final goodbye to this phenomenal lady.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kingston of Perrysburg for their loving care and support, and the staff of the ER and ICU at Mercy St. Charles Hospital for their compassionate care during Mary'™s final hours.
