Mary Beth Mallett, 71, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on May 7, 1955 to Paul and Joyce (Lake) Shonebarger. Mary graduated from Central Catholic High School and would go on to work various jobs, most recently as a nurse's aide. On February 14, 1984 she married the love of her life, Ken Mallett.

To know Mary meant you basically became a family member. She was so welcoming to anyone that came into her life, and always wanted them to feel comfortable. First and foremost, family meant everything to her. She cherished every moment she had with them, always attending any of her kid's sporting events, or making sure that when the house was full of friends and family, there was plenty of food to eat. Mary was feisty with a big heart, selfless and always catering to others. One thing you may not know is that she was an expert Scrabble player. She cared and babysat not only her grandchildren, but also other families in the area. If you weren't able to get to a Mallett family gathering you truly missed out, the hospitality was top notch and the pool always open in the summer months. Mary loved being outside in the sun, watching her family enjoy the backyard and embracing the commotion that came along with it. She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma and sister, and will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ken; sons, Jacob (Jessica) Mallett, Adam (Candyce) Mallett, Aaron (Michelle) Mallett; grandchildren, Tyler, Mackenzie, Caden, Dane, Owen, Eddie, Payton, J.D., Teegan; siblings, Julie (Bob) Lewandowski, Paula (Ray) Butler, Mark Shonebarger, Tom Shonebarger; sister-in-law, Debbie Shonebarger; and many nieces, nephews and loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jim Shonebarger.

The family will greet friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Mary's name may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
