Mary A. Szegedi, 94, formerly of Consaul St. in the Birmingham Neighborhood, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1915 in Toledo, OH to John and Anna (Gericho) Lazur. Mary and her late husband, Joseph, owned and operated Szegedi Carry Out for 25 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #4906. Surviving are her son, Ernest (Janice) Szegedi; daughter, Sharon (Jack) Romp; sister, Ann Koralewski; sister-in-law, Helen Lazur; grandchildren, Kristyn Lewandowski, Lisa Burgess, Gerald Keller and Jeffrey Szegedi; step-grandchildren, James & Jason Romp; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Katherine Soltis and everybody at the Navarre Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph and brothers, John, Joe, Emery, August and William Lazur. Friends and family may visit at the Kinsey Funeral Home, Birmingham Chapel 2001 Consaul St.on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 4 pm. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:15 am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow in St. Stephen's Church at 10:30 am. Interment will take place in Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Mary's may be given to St. Stephen's Church.
