Mary Barbara Szempias, age 92 of Birmingham (Toledo), Ohio took her final journey on February 27, 2012. Mary was born on April 1, 1919 on Magyar Street in Toledo, to Steven and Barbara (Karasz) Szirotnyak. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Stephen'™s Roman Catholic Church and spent many hours volunteering for many church activities. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years Joseph Szempias; parents; brothers, Steve, Joseph, John, Andrew and William; and sister, Ann. Friends may visit at the Kinsey-Pavley Funeral Home, 2001 Consaul St., on Thursday, 2-9 p.m. with rosary services at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 12:45 p.m. and proceed to St. Stephen'™s Church for a Mass of a Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen'™s Roman Catholic Church, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to extend special thanks for the many years of help provided to Mary by Pat Moore, Paul and Mary Ann Keutgens, and many other neighbors and friends.
