Matthew Bohnsack, 42, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 2,
2012 at his home. Matt was born June 8, 1970 to Charles & Marcia
(Faneuff) Bohnsack. He graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School
and Mercy School of Nursing. Upon graduation, Matt was accepted in to
the Critical Care Program at University of Michigan Medical Center
where he worked for 2 years in the Thoracic Intensive Care Unit. He
also worked as a traveling nurse with assignments in Florida, North
Carolina and Hawaii. Matt participated in the University of Toledo
Nurse Paralegal Program and won several awards for his work on the
mock trial team. He worked at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for
18 years, the last 10 as a Clinical Nurse Manager in the
Cardiovascular Surgery Unit. Most recently, he was employed by Point
Place Acute Rehab Center. He enjoyed sports, traveling, spending time
with his English Bulldogs Brutus & Lola and volunteering at the
Helping Hands of St. Louis Soup Kitchen. He was also well-known for
the gourmet meals & dishes he often prepared for friends and family.
Surviving are parents, Charles and Marcia; sisters Angela, twin sister
Michelle Turner and Cheri (Matt) Pastula; brothers Chuck (Dorie)
Bohnsack, the Rev. Chris Bohnsack and Brian (Jennifer) Bohnsack; and nieces and
nephews Zach, Lexi, Trey, Logan, Gavin, Tyler, Leah, Sam, Charlie,
Luke, Carter and Jude.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 6 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. with a Prayer Service held at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert
& Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH 43616. There will
be a prayer service on Friday, December 7 at the Funeral Home at 9:15
a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729
White St., Toledo at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately
following at Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those
wishing to express their sympathies may make a memorial contribution
to Helping Hands of St. Louis or the American Heart Association.
