Obituary

Maurice "Mory" B Sindlinger, 86, of Jacksonville, FL and formerly of Oregon, OH passed on to eternal life July 15, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.  Mory was born August 22, 1921, in New Philadelphia, OH, to John and Neta (Beil) Sindlinger. There he was a member of First Reformed Church and worked in his youth as an attendant at the Tuscora Park Roller Skating Rink. It was his love of roller skating that later led him to his beloved wife, Gerry. Maurice graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, IL, in 1942 and went to work as an electrician for the Nickel Plate Railroad in Toledo, OH, retiring in 1982 from the Norfolk & Western Railroad.    Mory was a member of First Saint Johns Lutheran Church where he served joyfully as an usher, elder, councilman, and photographer. He belonged to the church dart ball team, Topics Camera Club and the Retired Railroaders monthly lunch group. Mory shunned the limelight and cherished time with family. He loved to joke and tease with his dry sense of humor. He seldom spoke a cross word and was always ready to help friends and neighbors with their handyman projects.  After living in Oregon, OH, for over 60 years, Mory moved to the Augustine Landing Retirement Community in Jacksonville, Florida, where he met a host of caring new neighbors and staff. He was welcomed into the fellowship of Trinity Lutheran Church and found great comfort in the ministry there.    Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, John Sindlinger of Wauseon; daughters, Bonnie (Louis) Kerekgyarto of Jacksonville, FL and Marilyn (Herman) Pieper of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren Brian Storrer, Michelle Alonzo, Jennifer Stephenson, Alicia Sindlinger, Rebecca Cooper, Joyce Plisinski, Ellen Sindlinger, Raymond Pieper, Cory Sindlinger; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine "Gerry", parents, and siblings Nevin, Theodore, and Varda.  The family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2008 from 3-9 PM at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd, Oregon, OH. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 10 AM at First St Johns Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St. Interment services will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
